best fish and chips in town

When I’m in the lakes I make sure I have a meal at this restaurant and always have fish ,fries and garden peas as it’s one of the best I can find and I eat out a lot, always good food and no bad days, also a perfect location in Bowness.

lovely outside seating and lovely views

We went here a few times lovely and clean, lovely staff and great food, we had sunday lunch fish and chips all very well presented

holiday

Our first day in the lakes so we decided to go out for a meal and we were not disappointed it was lovely, hot , and plenty of it and the staff were friendly, so a good impression was set for our week in the lakes .

excellent location, great pub

Well this place really has lots to offer. We were in Windemere for a friends wedding and the ladies all spent the night before at The Angel. The views are beautiful, wonderful outside space to enjoy them whilst sitting with your favourite tipple! There was a group of twenty of us and each and everyone of us enjoyed their food. I had the skate with crushed potatoes and it was divine, I was too full to tackle a desert but went back several times during our stay there and the chocolate pudding was absolutely delicious. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We hope to go back next year and sample staying in one of their delightful rooms.

great location

This is a great place to sit and have a drink or meal outside, if the weather is kind. Staff are friendly, helpful and delightful. We had a drink on a couple of evenings and ate in one night. Amazing burger and even more amazing chocolate dessert – absolutely gorgeous. The cheese board is to be recommended too, as is the gammon, egg and chips.

beautiful meal

We visited the Angel inn on Friday evening and thoroughly enjoyed a lovely meal.
The restaurant is clean, model and fresh, and although it isn’t a huge menu the food appeared to be of a very good quality.
My partner opted for the sea bream and he put it up there with one of the nicest meals he had ever had, I went for the chicken Caesar salad with anchovies and bacon….. Very very tasty.
Staff were very polite and the service couldn’t be faulted. Will definitely be returning to eat in the Angel when we are in Bowness again in November:)

excellent bar meal

We ate here on Bank Holiday Sunday and really enjoyed the food. The place was packed out, which is always a good sign. There is a great menu of freshly prepared bar food with good options for children too. We had burgers, fish and chips and pasta and all were excellent. Would highly recommend for great ‘pub grub’ and lovely outside space if you have children/pets with you.

very good all rounder

We have stayed in this hotel 4 times now in various rooms and at different times of the year.
The hotel is situated in the centre of bowness with many of the rooms having views of lake Windermere.
In our recent visit be stayed in room 14. The room was large, airy and had all we needed and more for our 3 night stay. It had recently been refurbished so the decor was very good. The room was in a separate building next to the hotel and had lovely views of lake Windermere, overlooking the beer garden.
The room we chose was is a suite, having a seating area, coffee table and 2 tv’s. More like a home from home
The weather during our stay was very good so the beer garden was very busy but there was no noise disruption.
Breakfast has always been very good. There’s something for everyone. Cereal, fruit, yoghurts, toast alongside a full English, smoked salmon etc.
The bar area is also very popular and lovely to go for a drink, offering local beers. In summer it’s good to sit outside where in winter they have a lovely fire in the bar area.
The staff are always friendly and very helpful.

perfect

Stayed here for 2 nights last year, but just thought I would review as it was lovely. The hotel is clean and modern and the food and staff are second to non.. We have previous stayed before our last visit and so came back.. Would definitely return to this hotel. Xx

lovely stay

Stayed two nights. Lovely room and just a short stroll to lakeside. Breakfast cooked to order and generous helpings and plenty of alternatives to traditional breakfast. Pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup delicious. Booked in for evening meal which was excellent and unhurried and good value for money.

lovely last minute dinner

After a really awful drive from London we were exhausted and disappointed that our hotel for the night was not serving dinner due to a function. Our family of 4 headed to Bowness and found it to be very busy with most restaurants and pubs already full. We found this place by accident really – we just happened to be looking up! – and we’re delighted we did. The ambience was lovely and our 3yr old was made to feel just as welcome as the mainly adult clientele. Service was very timely and the food was delicious. Definitely worth the visit if you’re in the area.

relaxation haven

From arriving to checking out our whole stay was a pleasure from the standard of our room to the friendly staff and gorgeous food we couldn’t have asked for more. Nothing was too much trouble.

A wonderful place to stay

Great location, rooms very cosy and well maintained. Breakfast was lovely and we had dinner in hotel on the first night and the food was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff. Had a great stay!
